The Manager of T&T Operations is responsible for leading the workflow (input workload and output) of TJX Europe’s Translation and Transcreation Central Functions Department to provide high quality, timely transcreation services for HR, Brand and Marketing, Customer Services and Ecommerce.
Leads the flow of work into and out of the T&T Central Functions department, business partnering closely with leaders across the 4 key partner functions to ensure smooth and efficient flow of work (HR, Brand and Marketing, Ecommerce and Customer Service)
Lead the T&T briefing process; assesses complexity, timing and resource availability to manage workflow; tracking progress and managing client expectations; ensuring services are completed on effectively and efficiently
Maintain and build deep, open and productive relationships with key and stakeholders across multiple departments at all levels (up to AVP and VP level), to ensure that leaders across the business understand priorities, benefits and challenges of the T&T department and therefore encourage support of the T&T department by their team as required
Influence the other departments around the business to deliver the best work into the Translation and Transcreation department to ensure all processes and work flows well and seamlessly and optimum performance is achieved by the team with “best in class” output
Lead the “Communication Surgery” process, to plan translation and transcreation workload
Based on team’s workload challenges back, when required
Partner proactively and effectively with other functions at various levels, taking briefs for translation / transcreation and updating on status of work
Works in partnership with the rest of the team to ensure effective and timely delivery
Collaborates with other transcreation teams in the business to support and agree on translation of new terms and best practice when translating in the tool
Supports system requirements and any new technology introduction (for example machine translation) including updating documentation and UAT testing
Collaborates with the wider team where there is impact to operational efficiencies, providing subject matter expertise to projects and discussions as it relates to transcreation and communication
Ensure that all communications from the Translation and Transcreation team are communicated consistently to the correct audience
Own and manage T&T department budget
As required, conduct regular reviews of Translation and Transcreation processes, identifying opportunities to improve service and the function’s operation
Provide value added consulting level support and guidance for key projects and initiatives
Provide general support for initiatives and meetings as required
Responsible for own development and support their team to maximise potential
Actively curious with language trends within local markets, ensuring we always remain current
Embed the Leadership Competencies and Cultural Factors by demonstrating understanding
Maintain and build Deep, open and productive relationships with peer groups and stakeholders at all levels, always seeking to leverage and partner whenever and wherever possible
Partner with the Manager of Translation and Transcreation within the team to manage workload, prioritise workload and agree ways of working
Partner with key functions – HR, Brand and Marketing, Ecommerce and Customer Services
Understand priorities and impact on self/team
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Minimum language expectations are English (Business) and inherent interest in linguistics, plus preferably fluency in one other TJXE customer language (German, Polish or Dutch)
Translation / transcreation experience prefered,
Excellent and credible working knowledge of TJX operations is desirable
Excellent influencing skills particularly upward and have personal impact and credibility
Thinks tactically and manages ambiguity when required
Strong demonstrated communication skills with ability to read, write, communicate and interpret information accurately; bilingualism is a must; excellent attention to detail and accuracy and advanced experience with document structuring, editing
Additional language skills desirable
Genuine interest in the evolution of language and culture
Excellent computer skills including MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Desirable knowledge in CAT Tools (i.e. XTM, Trados, etc.), translation tools (Deepl etc.) and other translation tools
