We have an exciting opportunity available for a PA and Translation Support Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Francis Crick Institute is a biomedical discovery institute dedicated to understanding the fundamental biology underlying health and disease. Its work is helping to understand why disease develops and to translate discoveries into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.
The PA and Translation Support Officer role:
We are seeking a dedicated PA and Translation Support Officer who can manage the diary of the Director of Translation, as well as support this small team.
There is scope to get involved in various projects such as events, project management and support, translation training, or developing communications internally and externally about the work of the team. You must be flexible, organised, and proactive.
Responsibilities of our PA and Translation Support Officer :
Managing the Translation Director’s diary and meetings (approximately half of the time)
Proactively providing administrative support to the Translation Director, and to the team as required.
Managing the Translation Director’s travel arrangements and expenses as needed
Arranging internal and external meetings involving but not exhaustively, the Crick Executive, Group Leaders&researchers, external stakeholders
Organising and overseeing internal Translation events
Organising the logistics and administration of Translation committee meetings including the Translation Advisory Group and Translation Board
Supporting the development and implementation of new processes related to translational science projects
Supporting the project management of translational projects where appropriate, for example monitoring, recording, and tracking key information
Keeping website and intranet content up to date, liaising with the communications team and other translation team members as needed
Supporting the implementation of the translation training programme working closely with the Head of Translational Science
Ensuring appropriate induction of new staff in the team
Creating/editing PowerPoint presentations, producing written documents, and editing Excel spreadsheets as required. Use Workday, the Crick’s finance, and HR system for some administrative activities
Skills and experience required as our PA and Translation Support Officer:
The successful PA and Translation Support Officer should embody and demonstrate our core Crick values: Bold, Open and Collegial. This position requires exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to foster and facilitate relationships within the Crick.
Essential
Previous administrative experience including complex diary management
Experience of providing high level administrative support to a team of people
Excellent time management and organisational skills and the proven ability to deliver work to tight deadlines
Ability to proactively take on discreet pieces of work, or projects, and deliver them well and on time
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, exhibiting the ability to influence at all levels and able to work effectively as part of a team, encouraging a collaborative approach
Methodical approach to work, excellent attention to detail
Flexible, motivated, and resilient and able to work effectively in a collegial environment
Confidence to take on unfamiliar tasks and to learn on the job

A demonstrable interest in science and how it can benefit society
An undergraduate science degree or some administrative work in a research environment
