We have a core team of linguists, project coordinator/managers and quality management staff based at our purpose built, modern and busy office on the outskirts of Romsey in the Hampshire countryside. Role Purpose: In-house Language Revision and Project Coordination of translation projects from end to end. Responsibilities : This dual role combines the quality control / revision aspects of translation projects with day-to-day project management and coordination of assigned translation and interpreting projects from initial customer contact to project completion. The revision aspects include: Collaborative working with the QC team on day-to-day assignments and client linguistic requirements. Checking, updating and formatting amended translations. Anticipating and resolving queries from translators, revisers and clients. Working with the Production Control team to ensure the best use of the in-house QC team and external suppliers as required. Ensuring that Production Managers are kept up to date with project progression and delivery schedule changes. Updating the Project Management System with progress of jobs as required Sending out completed jobs to clients as directed by Production and Project Managers. Ensuring TM databases are updated as required. Project and office administrative work as required (including monitoring and responding to incoming emails, maintaining the project management system, double checking for colleagues, hard and soft copy file management, photocopying). Answering internal and external queries. Sharing skills and knowledge with colleagues to ensure mutual understanding of relevant industry and technology developments. The project coordination / management aspects of this role include: Project set-up and pricing, progress chasing, project delivery and completion documentation. Managing customer expectations by ensuring that they are kept up to date with project progression and delivery schedules. Answering customer queries and providing quotations as required. Checking, updating and formatting amended translations. Maintaining the Project Management System with the progress of jobs. Anticipating and resolving queries from translators, revisers and clients. Placing delegated jobs with translators and revisers. Sending out completed jobs to clients. Ensuring TM databases are updated as required. Qualifications / Experience / Competencies Educated to at least UK Bachelor’s level, ideally in one or more languages or the demonstrable equivalent experience in languages. Relevant experience in a similar working environment, ideally using linguistic skills on a regular basis would be an advantage. A high standard of literacy in written and spoken English and a good level of numeracy An organised approach to work with good attention to detail and accuracy. A good team player with strong self-motivation, organisation and personal time-management skills. Permanent eligibility to live and work in the UK. Willingness to work from our Romsey based offices. Other important information Applicants should be aware that Wessex Translations is based at Michelmersh, Romsey, which is on the A3057 between Romsey and Kings Somborne. The location of the office and the poor servicing by public transport means that it is essential that all staff, contractors and visitors have either personal transport or guaranteed lifts to and from the office.
