FREELANCE TECHNICAL TRANSLATOR (FRENCH-GERMAN)

Are you experienced in technical translations? ORTEC ENGINEERING, the engineering subsidiary of ORTEC GROUP, is an European leader in engineering, linguistics, risk and project management. The ORTEC branch in Spain specializes in engineering services, maintenance engineering, integrated logistics support, supportability, reliability and maintainability engineering and technical translations. Our team develops engineering studies for the creation, update or optimization of aircraft Maintenance Programs, using specific methodologies for different customers – mainly European aircraft manufacturers or vendors.

Responsibilities

• Analyze source documentation authored in French or German in collaboration and close contact with our technical authors.
• Translate documents from French to German and from German to French, including aircraft maintenance manuals, industrial installation instructions, ground vehicles maintenance or other similar technical language–related translations.
• Manage translation memories in automatic translations software (TRADOS).
• Cross‑check processes in accordance with our Quality Assurance processes.

Qualifications

• Freelance technical translator with demonstrated experience translating between French and German.
• Experience with technical translations of aircraft maintenance manuals and related technical documentation.
• Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE) standard.
• Experience with XML/SGML authoring and translation software.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office.
• Located in Spain and willing to work as in‑house translator in our offices in Madrid.
