Job Description – Japanese Language Translator (AI Document Validation)

Role: Japanese Language Translator (JLPT N2 / N1)

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Japanese Language Translator with JLPT N2 or higher (N1 preferred) to support AI-powered document validation and privacy compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate should have experience living and/or working in Japan and possess strong knowledge of Japanese language, business culture, address formats, and geographic references. You will review AI-processed documents to ensure sensitive customer information has been accurately identified and redacted while maintaining the highest standards of quality and data privacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Review AI-processed Japanese documents to verify accurate identification and redaction of sensitive customer information.
• Validate the removal of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), including:
• Individual names
• Phone numbers
• Email addresses
• Physical addresses
• City and geographical location names
• Customer-specific pricing and cost information
• Other confidential or sensitive business information
• Compare original source documents with AI-generated outputs to ensure no confidential information remains exposed.
• Identify incorrect, incomplete, or excessive redactions and provide detailed feedback for corrections.
• Maintain high accuracy, quality, and productivity while meeting defined turnaround times.
• Escalate ambiguous or complex cases to the appropriate stakeholders.
• Contribute to improving AI redaction quality through continuous feedback.
• Ensure compliance with customer privacy, security, and data protection policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in Japanese language translation, localization, content validation, or document review.
• JLPT N2 certification or higher (N1 preferred).
• Must have lived and/or worked in Japan with strong understanding of:
• Japanese geography and location names
• Japanese address formats
• Business terminology
• Cultural context
• Strong reading comprehension and analytical skills for Japanese-language documents.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify sensitive and contextual information.
• Experience in quality assurance, content review, data annotation, data validation, or document verification is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple review tasks within tight turnaround times.
• Willingness to support operations aligned with Japanese business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and data privacy regulations.
• Experience reviewing legal, financial, customer, or business documents.
• Exposure to AI-assisted content validation, document processing, or annotation projects is an advantage.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Mandatory Requirements

• JLPT N2 or higher (N1 preferred).
• Experience living and/or working in Japan.
• Strong understanding of Japanese language, geography, business terminology, and cultural nuances.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in document validation.
• Experience in content review, QA, data annotation, or document verification.
