Job Title: Portuguese Interpreter (Legal & Medical Specialist)

Location: Greater Tampa Bay Area – In-Person
Type: 1099-Contract Role

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and professional Portuguese Interpreter to provide high-level linguistic support in complex legal and medical settings. This is an in-person role requiring a specialist who can navigate nuanced terminology while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality.

What You’ll Do

• Legal Interpreting: Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation for depositions, attorney-client meetings, and courtroom proceedings.
• Medical Interpreting: Facilitate clear communication between healthcare providers and patients in clinical and hospital settings.
• Cultural Liaison: Serve as a cultural bridge to ensure all parties fully understand the context and intent of the communication.
• Compliance: Strictly adhere to the National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Healthcare and the Code of Professional Responsibility for Court Interpreters.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional interpreting experience (Portuguese/English).
• Specialization: Proven track record in both Legal and Medical environments is required.
• Certification: State or Federal Court Certification and/or CCHI/NBCMI Medical Certification is preferred but not required.
• Fluency: Native or near-native fluency in both Portuguese and English.
• Professionalism: Ability to remain impartial, maintain confidentiality, and handle high-stress situations with composure.

Requirements

• Willingness to travel locally to various onsite locations.
• Understanding of legal procedures and medical terminology in both languages.
