Public Health Wales are recruiting a Welsh Translation Coordinator for a 3 month period (while the role holder takes a career break). An overview of the role is below.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced translator to gain experience of managing a Welsh translation service for a period. There is opportunity to work full time, part time or as a job share for the 3 months and secondment or fixed-term opportunities will be considered.
The Translation Coordinator is expected to work effectively with colleagues across the organisation to manage translation work and work closely and professionally with external translation suppliers to manage contracts and oversee returned work. The post holder will also be able to provide a translation service from Welsh to English and from English to Welsh as needed.
There is flexibility in terms of the exact work pattern, and the job is suitable for home working.
The job holder will have fluency in both Welsh and English.
The post holder will provide a specialist translation service from English to Welsh and Welsh to English to enable the Trust to implement the principle that it will treat Welsh and English on an equal basis. The post holder will lead on the implementation of a comprehensive programme of delivery for the Trust’s translation service, taking a proactive strategic approach to ensure compliance with the Welsh Language Standards under the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011.
The post holder will provide the strategic guidance in improving translation services, ensuring performance indicators are upheld and addressing any shortfalls. The post holder will be required to maintain the service’s information systems, providing assurance to the Trust that controls are in place to ensure legislative compliance.

The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount being adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week.
In general, anyone joining our Trust who has not previously worked in the NHS will, by default, start on the first point of the advertised pay band. Pay progression will then be determined by annual Performance and Development Reviews in accordance with the NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy .An application for Incremental Credit may be considered, but can only be awarded based on evidenced, reckonable service and/or equivalent, relevant experience.
