A K-12 educational institution in Englewood, CO, is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a contract position lasting the academic school year. This role involves supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing by facilitating effective communication within classroom settings and school activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during lectures, discussions, and school events
• Collaborating with teachers and support staff to ensure accessible learning for students with hearing impairments
• Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Assisting with communication during parent-teacher meetings and other school functions as needed

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language, demonstrated through certification or relevant experience
• Experience interpreting in educational environments, preferably with K-12 students
• Strong understanding of deaf culture and best practices for communication access in schools
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
