Summary:

The Interpreter provides translation / interpreter services for Spanish-speaking patients and their families in a range of settings within a hospital network, including but not limited to inpatient units, admissions and primary / urgent care practices.

Responsibilities:

• Provides accurate in-person medical interpretation between staff and Spanish-speaking patients (and their representatives) in a variety of settings within a hospital network.

• Maintains records related to translation requests and documents the nature of requests in patient’s medical records.

• Serves as an advocate for Spanish-speaking patients and their families in the coordination of health needs.

  
  

• Helps care providers communicate with cultural competency.

Other information:

Required

• High School diploma or GED

  
  

• One (1) year of experience in a health care or human services setting.

• Experience or education in Medical Terminology

Preferred

• Certification as Spanish Medical Interpreter
