Summary / Objective: Responsible for facilitating communication within DAI, between DAI and DIL and Global Daikin companies, and the community. Serves as interpreter/translator for between American and Japanese employees. Serves as liaison between Daikin and the community. Promotes and supports various programs which promote understanding between American and Japanese cultures, both internally and externally. Builds and maintains positive relationships with all employees, departments, and with the community.
Qualifications:
• Must have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Should have at least 5 years experience as bi-lingual/bi-cultural interpreter/translator.

Essential Functions:
• Prompt, regular, and dependable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Facilitate communications and clear understanding between parties.
• Help American personnel better understand Japanese cultural issues (business and societal) and Japanese understand American cultural issues.
• Translate confidential documents, such as technical and business documents and email correspondence.
• Serve as interpreter and cultural advisor for DAI management team.
• Available for evening and early morning meetings, as needed.
• Assist visitors from Japan as needed.
• Coordinate employee orientation and training for Japanese members.
• Promote Japanese culture within the local community, such as schools, libraries, churches, etc., and represent DAI with organizations such as Japan America Society, Chamber of Commerce, etc.
• Serve as liaison in various types of Daikin business situations, assisting with smooth communications between DAI, DIL and with customers.
• Assists Japanese members’ families with orientation to the local community, helping them with learning to conduct business, school enrollments, parent-teacher conferences, doctor visits, etc.
• Supports compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Develops and maintains good working relationships with all other departments to ensure effective execution of responsibilities.
• Additional assignments as deemed necessary by management.
